As a nurse at Burning Man, I've learned that wearing goggles and masks is crucial in the dusty playa environment. Remember, your health comes first as you celebrate art and community in the heart of the desert.
The playa dust can be harsh on your eyes. I wear these goggles when I am wearing my contact lenses. (these goggles will not fit over eye glasses) Remember to tape the vent holes on the sides of the goggles. I use black electrical tape, but any tape will work.
These goggles do fit over my eyeglasses and they are tinted for daytime.
These clear goggles fit over my eyeglasses for night time adventures.
Playa lung and playa throat from the dust are no joke! You can protect yourself with a dust mask with carbon filters.
I wear a p100 mask when I break down camp because a lot of dust collects on the tent and canopy.
Some burners wear neck gaiters, myself included. It protects your neck from the sun and you can pull it over your nose and mouth in a pinch. I also like to dunk them in ice water on a hot day. It feels so nice on your neck!
